  2. Although Windows Me, I try to implement multimedia improvements; it was with Windows XP where we really saw advances in this matter; Improved Windows Media, more audio and video formats and codecs, respectively.
  3. A more streamlined and entertainment-oriented interface; left behind the gray face and excess sobriety that characterized both Windows 2000 and Me.
  4. A new design in the taskbar, which changes drastically, in relation to previous versions; when you click the start button, several sections are displayed, with the shortcuts of the most used applications and the newly opened documents.
  5. It has practical native features, such as the function to “burn data to CD”; that saved the task of downloading and installing an application, specifically for it.

  8. Starting with XP, Windows can recognize larger hard drives and use larger capacity partitions; which in his predecessors was limited.
  9. Another great novelty was to implement changes in the system; without the need to restart the computer; so you could install a driver, software or even remove a USB peripheral, without inconvenience.
  10. Multi-user ownership was a given; multiple user profiles could be configured; so that each person enjoyed privacy when using the same computer.

Disadvantages of the Windows XP operating system

  1. Like other versions such as Windows Vista or Windows 7; is not supported by Microsoft; whereupon, security updates remained unavailable.
  2. When Windows XP was developed, the 32Bits version could only support a maximum of 4Gb of Ram; so to expand this hardware capacity, you had to choose to install the 64Bits version.
  3. Currently, new hardware is not available for this release; to make use of this, it is necessary to migrate to the latest version.
  4. The home and student versions came with very limited features; the most extensive were the professional version or Media Center Edition.
  5. If the Microsoft support center detected that the copy of the product was not original, a series of annoying processes were activated, to remind you that you should acquire an original license of the system.
  6. With the great popularity that XP generated, many hackers developed large amounts of viruses, which circulated through the Internet or were transferred through third-party files.
  7. XP inherited the screens of death or blue screen; so it was frequent the appearance of these screens that indicated in most cases, that you had to format the computer.
  8. DirectX versions higher than v10 are not compatible with XP; therefore, many games running with versions 11 onwards are not supported on XP.

Conclusion

According to statistics, Windows XP until 2018, still had an important market share, compared to versions such as Windows 7 or Windows 10; despite the disadvantages noted above, it was a stable version, which many had a hard time letting go and letting go.
